Name, logo unveiled for proposed East Windsor casino


CIARA: THE MASHANTUCKET PEQUOT AND MOHEGAN TRIBES STILL WANT TO BUILD A CASINO IN EAST WINDSOR, CONNECTICUT. TODAY THEY ANNOUNCED THE DEVELOPMENT WILL BE CALLED TRIBAL WINDS CASINO. THE PROPOSED CASINO IS PLANNED FOR A SITE OFF I-91 IN EAST WINDSOR, WHERE A CINEMA COMPLEX WAS ONCE LOCATED. IN A NEWS RELEASE SENT TO 22NEWS, TRIBAL WINDS IS EXPECTED TO SUPPORT 5-THOUSAND JOBS FROM THE START OF CONSTRUCTION THROUGH THE OPENING, AND 2-THOUSAND PERMANENT JOBS ONCE THE CASINO IS OPERATIONAL. THE CASINO PROJECT HAS BEEN IN A HOLDING PATTERN IN RECENT MONTHS DUE TO A LACK OF A FEDERAL APPROVAL.
